Why is managing metadata in Obsidian so important?

We often overlook the importance of metadata in the management of our own knowledge management systems or PKM.

Obsidian for example, thanks to its simplicity and practically zero friction in its use, allows you to start taking notes immediately upon installation. I find this amazing. No subscriptions or complex configurations, just write.
The point is that with each new note or each new vault, we may be tempted to empty everything we have in our minds directly into the tool, to write in a totally random and disorganized way, promoting over time a tool that far from providing knowledge, insights and clarity, is a promoter of chaos, confusion and no value whatsoever.

There are frameworks that help us to give structure to our vaults.You could use the PARA framework, suggested by Tiago Forte or the well-known Zettlekasten, Content Maps, or similar systems, or even implement your own.

But beyond the framework or structure, the concept of metadata is key to the organizational context.
