Calling a meeting is a significant act of responsibility because it uses and commits two very scarce and precious resources from others: their energy and their time.
For knowledge workers, leading a work meeting in a remote environment is such a repetitive and routine task that one might think itās easy to direct and complete, almost like an automatic action ā āif I do this,ā then āI get that.ā
However, nothing could be further from the truth.
Leading a team for any length of time drains a substantial amount of energy, demands our best communication skills, and tests our abilities with certain tools. Not to mention, it also requires a solid understanding of the subject matter of the meeting.
