A few weeks ago, Steph Ango, CEO of Obsidian, shared on LinkedIn a surprising event of a purely political nature (U.S. sanctions). This event affected all Notion users in Russia, causing them to immediately lose all their data.

Although this case may seem very extreme and perhaps far from your reality, I think it evidences a very important point about the ownership of the information stored in the cloud: You are not the owner of your own data. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

Having our data in the cloud, accessible from any device at any time, is incredibly convenient and appealing. So much so that we often overlook potential risks and hand over our digital lives to third-party services with promises of 99.999999% availability.

However, in reality, cloud services are simply using someone elseā€™s computer to store our data.

When framed in such simple terms, itā€™s quite surprising that weā€™re adopting this practice on such a massive scale. šŸ˜±

An alternative is to use cloud-free solutions like Obsidian, which guarantee 100% privacy of your information since it doesnā€™t rely onā€¦
